SISB an ideal place to develop professionally and to make a difference in children's lives, says K2 teacher

After graduating from the University of West Florida (UWF) with a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, I began my journey teaching in Asia.

After a short time in China, I moved to Bangkok where I fell in love with teaching and making a difference in children's lives. I then continued my education with UWF, finishing their post-graduate teacher training programme and receiving my K-6 teaching certification in the state of Florida.

Of my five years in Thailand, the last year and a half have been spent as a K2 teacher at SISB. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this strong and growing community of teachers, staff, students and parents at the SISB Thonburi campus.

1. What attracted you to work and live in Thailand?

The warm weather, beautiful beaches and delicious food attracted me to Thailand, while the caring people and rich culture have kept me here for five years.

2. What do you enjoy about life in Thailand?

While I enjoy many aspects of life in Thailand, the relaxed atmosphere and opportunity for travel around South-east Asia are my favourites. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to explore this part of the world during my school holidays. Learning the language and getting to know the culture has also been a very rewarding experience for me.

3. What made you decide to join SISB?

After working in a Thai school in Bangkok for three years, I was ready to move into an international environment where I could grow and learn in my career as a teacher. The academic management team in the Nursery-Kindergarten department works hard to provide professional development for its teachers in order to implement the best teaching practices for the benefit of our students.

4. What do you like about teaching in SISB?

I enjoy the sense of community at SISB Thonburi, where we all work together to give our students the best educational experience we can.

5. What advice do you have for a teacher thinking of joining SISB?

Take the SISB learner outcomes to heart as a teacher. Be caring and open-minded and enjoy the incredible experience that life here in Bangkok and our school has to offer.
